Terry Fox Run - September 20, 2026 On April 12, 1980, Terry Fox dipped his prosthetic leg into the Atlantic Ocean and began one of the most inspiring journeys in Canadian history, the Marathon of Hope. With a vision of ending the suffering caused by cancer, he set off from St. John’s, Newfoundland, determined to run a marathon (42 km) every day across Canada. For 143 consecutive days, he pushed forward through pain, fatigue, and every obstacle imaginable before cancer forced him to stop in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on September 1, 1980. 46 years later, Terry’s vision lives on The Terry Fox Foundation honours his legacy by organizing Terry Fox Runs in over 10,000 communities across Canada to support life-changing cancer research. As CN railroaders, our connection to the Terry Fox story runs deep. Terry’s father dedicated 36 years to CN, beginning his career as a railroader, making this cause one that truly hits close to home. Year after year, Team CN shows up with pride and purpose. In 2025, more than 327 CN railroaders, pensioners and their families participated in the Terry Fox Run in Montreal, Toronto, Barrie, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kamloops and Prince George. This year let’s honour that legacy by showing up in even greater numbers.
